PG16- The Jaguar Princess (slight x,v,some b)
Sorry, no data yet.
Mixcatl is just a glyph-painting slave girl to the Aztecs, but she was born in the Eastern jungles to an ancient people, giving her the chance to become The Jaguar Princess, a manifestation of a god to stop the bloody sacrifices in Tenochtitlan. To do this, she finds a strange ally in Wise Coyote, the speaker-king of neighboring Texcoco, and in an old glyph-painter named Nine-Lizard. Seperately and together, they seek the answers to Mixcatl's strange shape-shifting power before the Aztec king has her sacrificed as a sorcerer. While it has one or two rough spots, the impressive historical background of this novel and its variety of deep and complicated characters weave a convincing tale of murder, lust, insanity, and the power of knowing your own heart. The jaguar thoughts are especially well written. Those who are interested in Native Americans, shapeshifters, big cats, or politico-religious conflict will enjoy this contribution to historical fantasy.
